Brief Description:  Canopy fitting

Although I've spent quite a few hours over the last few weeks working on engine, prop and avionics planning, this was the first time in quite awhile that I had actually been out to the hangar to do any work. This is all going to change as I'm about to immerse myself in the project for what I hope to be the final push. About time to turn this into an airplane.

Tonight was mostly centered around canopy work as I removed the frame and trimmed the forward posts to lower the front and make it more level with the windshield. This also served to make the skirts fit better along the front edge. RotoZip and Dremel make life much easier, and although I may take a tiny bit more off of both sides for the final fit, it's mostly done.

After putting the skirts back on, I broke out the drill and match-drilled all of the holes that will ultimately take 6-32 screws and attach the skirts and canopy together. Lots of countersinking left to do, and once that's done, I'll enlarge all of them to final size to accept the blind rivets and screws to finish the job.

Enough for tonight. Oh, did I mention that I placed an order for a Lycoming IO-360-M1B and a Hartzell CS prop today? Like I said...time to turn this into an airplane.
