Brief Description:  Brake lines and forward tunnel

Today was a day of odds and ends in the forward fuselage. The first task was to fit the cover and ensure that all of the lines cleared. And of course they didn’t. So…back to bending and tweaking, and trimming the cover just a bit to get everything to fit. I wish the lines were perfectly straight and parallel, but as Ross put it “you’re never going to see them”. Good point.

After getting the cover adjusted, I finished putting the foam insulation in, gluing it in place with spray adhesive—a process that worked surprisingly well considering that most of my brilliant ideas aren’t so much. I’m sure I’ll go back and find something that I’m not 100% satisfied with, but such is life. On to the next thing or I’ll never get this finished.

The brake and rudder pedals had been built some time ago but I had never actually finished the process with castle nuts and cotter pins, so that was the next thing I tackled. Four bolts per pedal, four pedals total…16 bolts to adjust and safety, so that took awhile. After getting that done I worked on installing the fittings for the brake lines, and finally the actual lines. Lots more to do, but enough for today. Sure hope these things don’t leak…
