Oh the things they don't tell you when you call Van's and say "I'm ready to order my RV-7 kit..." For starters, they don't tell you about ProSeal (nor should they, you need to experience that stuff first-hand...). And...they don't tell you about aluminum fuel lines. You see, if they told you about this stuff in advance, you might just say "no thanks" and buy something already airworthy. But no, we're "builders". And we must build, so out comes the checkbook and we start the process.

I took this picture because it seemed fitting (well, the idea...obviously not the tubing) to log some of the challenges I've faced along the way. When I started this little project seven years ago I had no idea what I was getting into. The pile of aluminum represents the trial and error that I've encountered along the way. Frustrating? Sometimes. But ultimately rewarding because I've been able to figure out how to solve every problem I've faced...at least so far.

So, the pile of scrap aluminum is in the recycle bin, the order to Aircraft Spruce is in, and on we go. Did I mention I'm still having fun?
