No pictures because all I had to show for this session was an hour and a half of pure frustration trying to get the last (of eighteen) AN3-4 bolt through the firewall and into the tank support bracket. A little background first. After building the fuel tanks, the builder's manual tells you to attach the tank with about half of the necessary fasteners in order to secure it in place. At the time I remember wondering when you actually put all of the fasteners in, but it turns out the manual never actually instructs you to do that little step. Things that make you say "Hmmm...."

Oh well, I decided that it would be easier to install the bolts before the skin was riveted on, and I was correct--except for the one that wouldn't go in place. I'm pretty sure that what happened is that the hole for the nutplate is very slilghtly off-center with the hole in the spar and the bolt can't get through the bracket in order to engage with the threads in the nutplate. There is one (and only one) solution to this, and so I will be removing the tank in order to enlarge this hole enough to get a bolt through it. Remove the tank for one bolt. Yep.

Thanks to Steve and Dad for hanging with me through the morning!
