Brief Description:  ELT testing, interior installation

The weather in Kansas was supposed to be beautiful this weekend; instead we got 800’ overcast and drizzle. So, instead of flying, I worked on some of the odds and ends that still need to be completed. I started by removing the aft baggage bulkhead to check & arm the ELT, and to check the serial number and battery expiration date. I also did the panel controller ELT test while the bulkhead was off, to make sure all worked properly before closing it back up. I noticed that there was a little bit of debris that had been stirred up by my first couple of flights, so I vacuumed that out before reinstalling the bulkhead.

While I was working on reinstalling the bulkhead, I also began the process of baggage sidewall and bulkhead covering. The picture shows the lower baggage bulkhead, which is attached by two brackets and some rivenuts along the top. The upper bulkhead cover fits on top of the lower and is secured with Velcro tabs. Once I get everything fitted, I’ll end up marking the areas that need to be painted, and then pull all the sidewalls and carpet out to paint. I have a feeling I’ll not be pushing too hard to get that done anytime soon…I’m sort of enjoying not feeling any pressure to “get it done”…
