Brief Description:  Cowl camlock installation

Today was the first of two days devoted to getting the cowling installed and moving on to getting this project in the air. After figuring out the camlock installation process during the last session, I began working on the top of the cowl, as this was going to be the most challenging part due to the fact that I had already made the receptacle cutouts in the support strips, and realized I had no easy way of ensuring I could drill the cowl to match. I ended up using my clear ruler to carefully mark the location of each hole center relative to a point on the fuselage, and then, after attaching the cowl, drilling off of that reference point. Worked like a champ. There are about 50 camlocks holding the top and bottom cowls on, and each one requires a multi-step process of drilling to a template, enlarging the holes to accommodate the receptacles, countersinking the rivet holes, riveting the receptacles in place, and then adding the grommets, retaining rings & locking pins on the opposite side. Simple enough, but very repetitive and not worthy of much narrative.

I did find that about half of the receptacles were shipped without a required retaining clip (MilSpec was great about shipping those ASAP), and without those, final adjustment will have to wait. By the end of the day I had the top and left side of the upper cowl done.
