Brief Description:  Elevator control rigging

Today was devoted to installing the full elevator control system to check travel limits and eliminate interference with wiring, structure, etc. The first thing I did was to file down the elevator horn extension that I had installed due to an edge distance issue. This extension was hitting the aft most bulkhead and causing the elevator travel to be limited to about 23 degrees (25 is the minimum). After filing that down to both minimize contact and still preserve edge distance, I had about 26 degrees of travel when the elevator horn hit the stop.

I also had a bit of interference in the mid-cabin area when the pushrod crossed the aft spar bulkhead. In this case there was just a bit of metal on the bulkhead that extended above the spar reinforcement bar, so I filed that down to be flush with the bar. This seemed to be enough, but I can file the whole assembly as much as necessary to avoid any interference. I’ll wait to do that until all of the control assembly is in final adjustment.
