Brief Description:  Aft fuselage wiring

More work on the aft fuselage wiring today. I started by reattaching the cannon plug for the GMU 22 magnetometer, a simple matter of plugging the D-Dub pins back in the correct sockets and reattaching the strain relief clamp. Once that was finished, I drilled a hole in the aft deck to facilitate an Adel clamp to support the wiring as it runs above the elevator pushrod. My goal has been to ensure first that there will be nothing that can possibly interfere with control actuators, and as the pictures show, I think there will be more than ample clearance and support.

Next I focused on running the pitch trim and tail light wires. The pitch trim wiring runs down the left side of the fuselage before it goes up through the aft deck and out into the left horizontal stab. The wiring provided by Steinair was more than long enough, so to make things easier to maneuver, I cut off the five D-Sub sockets and just went with the bare wire end for now. Since both the pitch trim and tail light wires exit the structure before reentering their respective flight control, I elected to put some nylon sheathing on both to protect the wiring from chafing. The run up through the aft deck and into the stab required one hole, a couple of snap bushings, and some edge protection that I glued into the forward lightening hole. I simple left the wire dangling as it exited from the spar web of the stab—this will be trimmed and connected to the wires on the pitch actuator when that gets installed.

Finally, I enlarged a tooling hole in the F-711 bulkhead to take a snap bushing, and then ran the tail light wire through that to exit the aft fuselage. With that, the aft fuselage wiring should be complete. I do have two antenna connectors to add, but that is about a 10 minute job. I’m pretty much ready to close up the aft fuselage. One interesting thing I found—two holes, both supposed to take an AN4 rivet, which had been left open. I'll enlarge the holes and install bolts there...wonder what else I've missed...
