Brief Description:  Fuel & electrical

Little did I know that plumbing the fuel system would be as challenging as it has been, but I think I finally have everything fitting together properly. Haven’t I said that before?

At the end of the last session, I found that the pump-to-firewall run of 5052 was coming into contact with the tunnel cover at the forward edge. This was a head scratcher since everything had fit nicely before this, but a double check this morning proved that I was going to have to do something different. I had one more piece of 5052 available, so with some deep set fear of another tube bending debacle, I set about fabricating another piece. The primary challenge is that the tubing must exit the pump, drop about an inch and a half, pass through the cutout in the cover, then immediately return to level (with a 45 deg right turn thrown in for good measure) and then proceed forward to terminate with a 90 degree upward bend to the fitting. Sounds easy, but if it were, everybody would be doing it.

The whole process, to include some ad hoc “on site” bending, took about an hour, but I got it done and with the cover in place, could verify that everything fit without interference. I then set about organizing and securing all of the wiring that runs through the spar and forward. My goal is to prevent any sort of chafing potential by using a variety of methods to separate and secure. The pictures do a pretty good job of showing the results. Four hours and I feel like I’m backing up…but a little progress is good enough for today.
