Brief Description:  Forward fuselage prep

Today I finished drilling the auxiliary longerons to the F-770 skin, then began fabricating a number of small parts that are used to attach the F-704 to the longeron and the F-719 longerons to the firewall stiffeners. Nothing terribly interesting here, but necessary to the process. I do have one issue with Van's at this point. While I have tremendous respect for anyone who can design an aircraft and produce it in a kit so that a person of average skill (me) can build it, I can't for the life of me figure out why they couldn't produce a builder's manual that matched the kit in terms of completeness. While the manual is generally very good, there are parts that just don't seem to be well thought out. For example, there is a gusset that must be drilled to the F-713 longerons and the firewall attach brackets. One might think that the builder's manual would say "drill all of the holes in the F-713 longeron and F-770 skin EXCEPT for the six holes that are common to the F-713, F-770, and WD-602"...I mean, it's just a little extra ink to say that...how hard could it be? Instead, the plans say to drill all of the holes and then four paragraphs later say "oh, by the way, don't drill the holes in the WD-602 until the such and such gusset is attached" Why? Oh well, it's just another opportunity for a builder to solve a small problem.
