Brief Description: Center fuselage construction
This session was spent in the initial construction of the center section. The first step was double checking everything to ensure all was ready for riveting. I had to go back and dimple the F-705 bulkhead which posed two problems due to the seatbelt attach bracket nuts interfering with the Tatco as I was trying to dimple--that lead me to use the pop-rivet dimpler, which worked ok. I also realized that four of the seatbelt attach brackets interfered with the seat ribs, so off they came and after a little grinding, cleaning, and touch-up paint, they were back in place.
Then I began riveting the structure together. For the seat rib/F-704 attach rivets, I shot them with the gun, but I used the Tatco hand squeezer on everything else because I've found I have much better control of it, and it's easier to adjust, so unless I have a bunch of similar rivets, I generally squeeze them by hand. After a bunch of riveting, I clecoed the skin on and called it a night. I think I'll be able to shoot most of the rivets myself as the access is pretty decent. We shall see...
