Brief Description:  Center fuselage prep

After some careful plans study, I started by clecoing all of the seat ribs in place. In the same manner as the wing ribs, the seat ribs alternate in a specific way between left and right hand ribs...and, it doesn't go "logically"--sometimes there are left hand ribs on the right side, and sometimes right hand ribs on the left side. You know it's right when everything lines up and the plans agree. It was at this point that I realized a mistake from a while back was going to cause me some problems.

When I had first worked on the F-704 bulkhead, I had noticed that two of my 5/8" wire run holes were far too close to the lowest rivet holes on the inboard "seat access" ribs. At the time, it wasn't obvious that this would be a problem...I simply thought I would add an additional rivet and life would be good. Not so fast. When I assembled the center section, it became quickly apparent that I had drilled the holes in the wrong place. Back to the plans and I discovered that I had drilled 1/4" OUTSIDE of the reference line...I was supposed to drill INSIDE the line. This not only put the wire run hole too close to the lowest rivet hole, it also placed it squarely under the rib...not good.

The hole on the left side is an optional hole (since I'm not doing manual pitch trim), so that hole will just be covered by the rib flange, but the hole on the right will be used for running wire to the aft fuselage, so I will likely have to find a place to put one additional hole and figure out how to work around. Live and learn.
