Brief Description:  Fuel tank sealing

Today was the day to finish the right fuel tank. Before I broke out the ProSeal, I went back to the construction manual to make sure I had everything done. I re-cleaned all the parts that were going to be sealed, then I dry fit them to ensure everything was in good shape. After that, I vacuumed out the tank to make sure there was no debris that would get trapped in the sealed tank. The last thing I did before sealing was to finish the service bulletin on the fuel pick-up system by safety wiring the coupling.Time to seal. I mixed up the sealant and put it in a tube I had purchased at SealPak. After putting a bead around the edges, I slid the baffle in place and clecoed every hole. This meant I got to clean every cleco when I finished...probably one of the worst parts of fuel tank sealing. I used blind rivets to attach the middle brackets (after checking three times that they were all correctly positioned), then attached the outboard and inboard using 1/8 inch rivets. Finally I used the squeezer to rivet the skin to baffle. The last step was to put the access panel in place and screw it down. Tank sealed...I hope.I'll give it a couple of days and hook up the manometer to check for leaks. Keeping my fingers crossed!
