Brief Description:

I decided to put the airplane down for a couple of weeks to catch up on some of the items that need fixing, and a couple that I decided to put off until after first flight. Today I started by adding a restrictor to the manifold pressure line to help keep the MP from surging at cruise power settings. I then removed the access plate covering the roll servo and installed a screw keeper that is designed to prevent the servo arm retaining screw from backing out. This was the fix designed by TruTrak for their legacy servos that used a simple screw rather than a lock nut to hold the arm on. The pitch servo was upgraded when I went to the Vizion autopilot, so that was already done.

Next I pulled out the interior in preparation for removing at least the pilot side floors to run some wire for seat heat, 12 volt charger, and to install the aileron trim. While I was at it, I also removed and replaced the right side brake cylinder on the passenger rudder pedal. For some reason this fitting has been leaking at a very slow rate ever since I added fluid to the system. I have replaced everything but the brake line to that side, so that will be the last thing to try if this doesn’t fix it.

Finally, I started working on the engine baffles, something that has been bugging me since I started flying. The worst part was the forward left side, which I had completely screwed up during installation and follow on work. That baffle came out and I used it for a template to make another one. The last two pictures show the process. Once I get it installed I will then turn to the part that I really need to get right—trimming along the upper edges and installing baffle fabric so that it will actually seal.
