Brief Description:  Misc odds and ends

Long session at the hangar today in anticipation of being gone next weekend. With so many little tasks to be finished before AW inspection, I bounced around from thing to thing to try and maximize my time. During the course of the day I accomplished the following:

•Installed the glareshield trim pad. Very straightforward with the template that Classic Aero sent with the interior. It turns out they never sent the armrest template…that would have been helpful yesterday, but I got everything installed and am totally happy with the results.
•Installed both wing gap fairings. Surprisingly this took a lot longer than I expected it too, primarily due to the fact that the fuel tank sealant was interfering with the nutplate installation, so once I got that cleaned off with a razor blade, the process went much faster. As is usual, the second one took half the time and was at least twice as good.
•Installed the G3X temperature probe. This took much longer than it should have, mainly because I have been trying to figure out where to put it. When I got the avionics harness from Steinair, the probe was fully assembled—to include having the wires sealed for installation in a wing bay or somewhere away from the fuselage. Since I decided early in the wiring process to minimize additional holes in the spar web, I never really considered drilling the 5/8” hole that would be required to pass the fully assembled probe through. I may regret it if I end up getting a lot of erroneous temp indications from the current placement, but I ended up putting it as far forward and right as I could get it on the fuselage bottom.
•Finished up the passenger fresh air vent and com/mic receptacles

Before I left I took a swipe at finishing up the canopy latch assembly. I had found the original hook in the scrap box and decided to see if it might work now that the canopy is installed for good. Turns out that a little filing was all it needed, so I may be back in business with getting the canopy adjusted and installed permanently.
