Brief Description:  Interior installation

This has been a two steps forward, one step back week. It all started during what I assumed would be routine service bulletin searches. I didn’t think I would find anything of interest, but when I got to the Lycoming site I found a number of bulletins that had potential to affect me. It turns out that none of them were applicable…with one exception. I’m going to get two new magnetos. The obscure Lycoming SB No. 622 included my engine, and involves a replacement gear on both of my brand new, unused magnetos, so they will come off and be returned to Slick for repair or replacement. Fortunately, it is under warranty, so I won’t have to pay the bill on this one. The jury is still out on how long this will delay first flight.

Once I arrived at the hangar this morning, I began the process of installing the interior. I am very impressed with the fit and finish of the Classic Aero Interior product, and the pictures do a much better job of detailing than I can do with words. During the process, I also needed to paint the small auxiliary panels that hold the cabin fresh air vent tubes and mic jacks, so I pulled those out and did the normal cleaning, priming, finishing, clear coating that I did on the main panel. In between coats I spent my time installing the cabin sidewalls and pilot’s seat.

Checking off the boxes and counting down the remaining items before I call the project complete and sign the logbook with the entry that declares this thing ready for airworthiness inspection.
