Brief Description:  Mid-cabin wiring

I continued working on the mid-cabin wiring today by adding several Adel clamps to hold the various wire bundles where they run under the seat floors. I had originally installed one along the mid span of the seat ribs, but I felt that some additional support forward was necessary to ensure complete clearance from the flight control assembly. Before installing the clamps, I first added a splice to one of the flap power wires to accommodate for the fact that I had crushed the wire at some point while working in the cabin. I suspect that the wire got pinched in the hinge point of the plywood that I was using as a temporary floor. However it happened, I had to cut the wire shortly after it exited the spar web and spliced it to reach the area behind the seats where the flap motor lives.

During this process I had to go back and refresh my memory on flap wiring, so several trips to the schematic and some testing with the multimeter were in order. I had incorrectly marked one of the wires as “flap ground” during installation, but a quick check of the plans showed that the actual flap ground runs from the switch to the grounding bus, and that both wires running to the flap motor are actually power wires…one for up, and one for down. That’s why you make a wiring diagram…it’s way too easy to forget once you move away from it for awhile.
