Brief Description:  Nav & strobe light wiring

A split session today with the family coming out to the airport for lunch and to watch some marginally sane pilots drop pumpkins out of their airplanes. Entertaining…

Before I got started with the wiring I cut out the paper template with all of my proposed panel markings to ensure I had size and spacing correct. The picture shows the switch panel—I think it looks pretty good!

The rest of the session was devoted to finalizing the connections for the nav and strobe lights. The plan is to have power for each supplied via a single wire to a terminal block, and then for each wing and the tail to connect to common terminals. I had purchased a 16-terminal block with something like this in mind, so I spent a little time working out the details and making four jumpers out of AWG 14 wire to connect the nav, strobe, common & ground wires. The common wire allows the strobes to flash in unison and the ground wires are for the shield grounds.

Once I had figured out how everything should attach, I determined the location on the seat rib where all of the wires would terminate, and then attached the block to the rib. Enough for now, next session will be focused on terminating all of the wires and continuing the process of tidying everything up.
