Brief Description: Wire bundle organization

This morning I started by attaching Fast On terminals to each ground wire, and then attaching each terminal to a tab on the firewall mounted grounding block—the proverbial “forest of tabs”. I was a bit surprised that I had almost 20 separate components grounding to this tab, but with about half of those being avionics, it probably is about right. Next I started the process of straightening the bundles and attaching the final zip ties—in this case, white. I had harbored some thoughts of using nylon lacing tape for this, but realized that it would have probably tripled my time to finish this up, so I resorted to the tried and true zip ties. I figure if it’s good enough for the certified aircraft my company produces, it’s probably good enough for me.
I also utilized the nylon stand offs that I had purchased through Mouser to attach the RG-400 (to get at least a little separation for the signal cables from the power cables), and to keep the bundles apart at a couple of key crossing points. When I finished the session, I realized that I was getting pretty close to power on testing of the circuits, so I will have to shift gears to seal the firewall first thing next session to allow me to start closing things up. Progress!
