Brief Description:  Wire bundle organization and installation

Continuing on with the wiring theme, I started today by installing Adel clamps along the forward ribs and underside of the sub panel to support the forward and aft wire bundles. The forward wire bundle consists primarily of sensor wires coming from the engine compartment, as well as wires running from the panel down through the center tunnel. The aft bundle is almost entirely avionics, with the odd wire for a couple of other components. All of these are supported by the Adel clamps and sit roughly level with the bottom of the sub panel structure—designed to keep them well out of the way, and yet still reasonably accessible for future needs.

To install the Adel clamps I needed to add nut plates in about five places (the rest simply use nuts and washers as they are more easily accessible). Once the nut plates were installed, it took a remarkably long time to get the Adel clamps and wire bundles organized, but I finally got it done. As this was simply the “validate the concept” part of the installation, I will still need to loosen everything up and comb out the bundles to ensure there are no pinch points, and I still have a couple of rogue wires that need to be rearranged, but all in all, I’m pleased with the progress.
