Brief Description:  Magneto harnesses & sensor wiring

Working on a big home improvement project which is taking most of my time this week, but still managed to get out to the hangar for a few hours today.

Work was focused on rerouting the magneto harnesses to go over the top of the engine, rather than running below. The primary reason for this was due to the fact that the previously chosen routing had the harness running directly underneath the main fuel pump, and that violated a number of protocols. The main disadvantage to the new routing is that it requires the harness to be attached almost exclusively to the engine mount (rather than directly to the engine). I have read in a number of places that where possible, anything that ultimately attaches to the engine should have all contact points on the engine to minimize vibration variables. Simply no options in this case, and due to the length of the harnesses, there is so much excess that I’m not worried about the vibration issues.

Finally, I started the process of running the EGT and CHT wires to the respective cylinders. It is my understanding that these wires should all be a uniform length due to the fact that they are all attached to thermocouples. Due to the various distances from the GEA 24 to the sensors, there is quite a bit of excess on each one and I’ve coiled up the wires for now. I’ll do some research to see if I can at least trim them all by about a foot or so to minimize the excess.
