Brief Description:  Wire harnesses

I started the process of swapping out the GNS 400 for the GTN 625 by putting the avionics harness on the bench and laying out the various components by the respective backshells. For the first time I'm starting to get a pretty good idea of where each component will eventually go. GDL 39 behind the right subpanel; GEA 24 along the right hand rib; GSU 25 on the left subpanel (near the rib for maximum stability); both GTR 20s and the GTX 23 will mount on a tray that I will fabricate and place below the longitudinal ribs...at least that's the plan. Did I miss anything?

The next step was to remove the backshell and pins from the GNS 400 installation. I used masking tape to label each wire as it came out of the connector, to be replaced at a later time into the GTN 625 connector.

Since I now have a second radio, there is an additional radio harness that will need to be spliced into the existing harness. This will require that I purchase a D-SUB pin crimper, so that's a job for a later time as well.
