Brief Description:  Hoses and clamps

A day off of work afforded me a couple of hours to work on the RV. I had placed an order with Aircraft Spruce for some misc hardware, and my replacement display units had arrived from Steinair, so I had plenty to work on. When I last left the hangar, I had a few odds and ends that needed to be cleaned up—one of which was a missing nut from the mixture cable bracket. With the replacement nut in hand, I finished that task up and turned to the fuel supply line that was contacting the engine case and mount in a couple of places. Four Adel clamps—two on the forward end, and two on the aft—secured the line as shown in the first picture. It may be overkill to clamp it so securely, but it seems like it now fits like it should.

With that done, I next worked on the cable that supplies power to the starter. This cable snakes around the right side of the engine case, crosses under the center, and then bends back around to the starter. I had to fabricate a small angle bracket to attach the forward Adel clamp (visible in the last picture), but other than that, it was merely an exercise in clamping—which I’m quickly learning to dislike.

Next up will be a clamp on the fuel line that runs to the injector housing, as it contacts the starter cable as it comes around the front of the engine. That should be a pretty easy one. After that, I’ll probably start wiring the alternator and figuring out the throttle, mixture and prop cables. So much left to do…
