Brief Description:  Cowl attach brackets

Tonight I arrived at the hangar with the day's high temp of 74 degrees rapidly heading south with a very brisk north wind. Expected low tonight is around 24 degrees. The next five days look equally bleak with temps not expected above freezing until the weekend. Why do I live here?

More sheet metal work as I continued fabricating the MilSpec cowl attach brackets along the top and sides of the fuselage. When I finished yesterday, I had the right top piece done, so I started with the left side and basically duplicated the process. Once the left was done, I realized that the .050" aluminum wouldn't turn the corner quite as well as I needed it to, so I elected to make a transitional tab on each side.

I took a long piece of pre-cut strip and bended it into a gentle curve to match the contour of the fuselage, and then cut two pieces to 3 3/4" for use as single tabs. Drilling to fit, filing, etc. I will drill the reference holes at a later time--probably once I get the rest of the cowl fitted.

With that done, I started working on the sides. Since those don't really have to be scalloped, that process went a lot faster, only slowed by my decision to remake the left side due to some edge distance issues on the first attempt.

Countersinking and then working on the bottom piece is next.
