I finally decided to remove the insulating foam that I had attached to the cabin tunnel cover and floor. It had become pretty obvious that my original plan for protecting the fuel and brake lines was not going to work, so I scraped what I could and then used MEK to remove the adhesive and foam remanants. Messy, messy job.
