Brief Description:  Avionics inventory

Several months ago I elected to purchase a two-display Garmin G3X Touch panel through Steinair. My logic behind this decision was twofold. First, you can't purchase the avionics directly from Garmin, so any company discount was out, and second, by purchasing through an avionics shop instead of through a supply house, I had the option of getting the wire bundles pre-made.

The avionics delivered today, and I am more than impressed! My primary hope going in was that by having the wire bundles professionally fabricated, I would avoid the possibility of hearing a pop, seeing sparks, and smelling smoke the first time I powered up this expensive stack of avionics. It turns out that I'm also going to save myself a lot of work--and by a lot, I estimate at least a 100 hours.

This may not be 100% plug and play, but it's pretty close (and had I paid a little more, they would have made it complete--but hey, I have to be able to say that I did something...) The second picture shows how complete the wiring is, straight out of the box. Connectors wired and marked, bundles logically arranged...everything I need to connect the entire stack. I'm pretty stoked to get out to the hangar and start running wires.

One sad side note--today was the day we had to say goodbye to our dog Birdie who had been with us for 13 years. It was a good run and we'll miss her.
