Brief Description:  Misc canopy work

Tonight I headed out to the hangar to continue working on the canopy. With the temps up around 84 degrees inside, I figured it was as good a time as any to do some acrylic work, so after some plans study I removed all of the clecos and took the canopy off the frame. About half of the holes take a blind rivet directly, and the other half are covered with aluminum from either the skirts or the center strip, so countersinking depends on the location.

After figuring out which holes received rivets directly, I countersunk those, and then went a little deeper for the remaining holes. Once that was done, I used a 5/32" acrylic bit to enlarge all of the holes. The idea is that with just a little give in the holes, the acrylic is less likely to crack when the rivets are installed. We'll see.

Once the canopy was finished, I used a 1/8" bit to open all of the holes on the frame and put the canopy back in place. Only have the holes along the bottom edge left to go. These take a #6 screw, so I'll get those next session.
