Brief Description:  Fuel lines

Today was a milestone of sorts. This was the day that I passed 1,000 hours working on the project. Based on the estimates that most people take between 1,500 and 2,000 hours to complete an RV, I have to believe that I am at least past the halfway point...maybe even as far along as 60% of the way to the finish line since I will not be doing my own interior or painting this thing myself. It can't go on forever, right?

To celebrate my progress, I spent about 2 hours ruining six feet of fuel supply tubing trying to figure out how to get it through the various bulkheads, gear mounts & fuselage. The builders manual says "the plans are so detailed that any further description would be redundant". Pretty funny. Reference my previous post where some builders leave the gear mounts loose until they get the fuel lines in...right. Not sure who came up with that idea, but I can't see how that would make any difference.

There seems to be two options. First, many people use a flexible tubing bender to "guide" the tubing through the double 90 degree turns necessary to clear the gear mount--this is the method I will be using with the replacement tubing when it arrives from Van's. Other builders have paid about 140 bucks to have two flexible tubes made. That will be my plan B if I can't get this right...but I'm optimistic to a fault. We'll see...until next time.
