Brief Description:  Cabin vent installation

Today I decided to install the two vent scoops that provide air from the forward fuselage into the cabin. The plans included with the vents call for using RTV to attach them to the fuselage sides, and although I don't have much experience with RTV, it didn't seem robust enough for me. The plans went on to say that some builders choose to reinforce the installation by using blind rivets in addition to the RTV. That would be me.

So, out with the #40 bit to get things going, first by drilling the vent scoops on the drill press and then by using them to drill to the fuselage. After that I enlarged the holes with a #30 bit and finally countersunk them to accept a flush rivet. On with the RTV, pull twelve rivets and then clean up the resulting mess. Done. I have no idea how they would have faired without the rivets, but I have to say I'm pretty sure they won't come off now.
