This was another day of cleaning up some things left undone over the years. To get started I decided to permanently attach the horizontal and vertical stabilizers—something that would actually require the vertical stab to be removed first. Before I got going on that, I attached the nut plates that secure the access panels which allow inspection of the aft most bay in the tail. That done, I removed the vertical stab and drilled out holes for seven rivets that I had not finished previously. Rivets went in without a hitch and the stab was ready for installation.
Before I attached the vertical, I went ahead and torqued the bolts securing the horizontal stab—access was much easier with the vertical removed. One last pass with the vacuum to clean out the bits left over from drilling and the stab was back on and all bolts torqued.
