Brief Description:  Forward cover fabrication

This morning I headed out to the hangar with no clue what I would be doing. I've found that after a long time off, it takes me awhile to get back in the groove (to use a bass term) and so I walked around and took notes of things that needed some attention. One thing I've learned over the years is that it's best not to dive into a critical task without being fully up to speed on the issues, so today I just decided to finish up some of those forward cabin covers that seemed so boring a year ago.

In the RV-7, there are a host of lines (mostly fuel) that run from the firewall back to the spar and eventually out to the wings. Although, if you take it from the fuel's perspective, the journey begins in the wings and terminates in the engine. Nevertheless, one of the covers I needed to work on was the large assembly that contains access panels for the fuel pump in the front and the fuel selector in the aft.

Lots of edge work, Scotchbriting (a word?), cleaning, priming, riveting nutplates, etc. Voila...a cover is completed and I'm back on the job!
