Brief Description:  Flap installation

For the most part, the flaps are done. I started the day working on the fuselage cutout for the left flap. The process involves a lot of filing...checking...filing...checking, and so forth. The goal is to remove only the metal that is required for free travel of the flap and actuator through the full range of movement. The hole is anything but symmetrical due to the movement of the flap actuator pushrods and the size of the clevis fitting. In the end I had a somewhat teardrop shaped hole but the job was basically done.

I hooked up my 12-volt charger/battery to the system and moved the flaps up and down several times, but I found that the noise from the motor kept me from hearing where the rubbing was occuring. Ultimately I disconnected the motor and used the flap actuator by hand to move the flaps. This was a better solution and I found the binding points pretty easily.

Once the flaps were done I moved back to the fuselage and did a little bit of riveting that I had put off and called it a session.
