Brief Description:  Seat backs and brackets

I started tonight by changing my bandsaw blade which had been dulled by cutting the hinge pins. I figured out a better way to cut the pins without using the bandsaw, so now I just notch them with a file, bend and break. Live and learn.

After trimming a couple of the hinges that attach the seat support at the top of each seat back, I drilled the hinges to the seats and then clecoed everything together and placed the seats into the aircraft. Everything fit and now is ready to be...say it with me...disassembled, deburred, cleaned, primed, and riveted. Then the seats, minus cushions and covers of course, are pretty much done.

Next I started working on a couple of brackets that support the forward tunnel. These involved some fairly straightforward cutting on the bandsaw--hence the requirement for a new blade. I'm not sure how anyone builds an aircraft without a bandsaw...indispensable in my opinion. Another simple tool that I can't live without has been a clear ruler, marked in sixteenth inches, that allows me to make very accurate and quick markings for cutting. I think this was something that Jen used in graduate school, but it is now my primary measuring device. Funny how you find uses for things.

I will plan on doing some more riveting tomorrow if I can slip out for a couple of hours. Still lots of metal work to do, but I'm getting much closer to hanging the wings...that will be a fun day for me.
