Brief Description:  Baggage compartment construction

This morning I had hoped to get the rest of the baggage area panels fitted and drilled final, and all of the little tasks such as attaching nutplates finished up. For the most part my plan worked--I still have a couple of small items left (such as fabricating the nutplates to attach baggage tie-downs) but those can wait until much later.

After fitting and attaching the wear blocks for the shoulder harnesses, I turned my attention to fitting all of the panels. I was a little bit hasty when I attached the nutplates on the bottom row of the F-706 bulkhead because I realized today that the nutplates should have been attached to both the F-706 bulkhead AND the baggage floor panels. I debated (for about five seconds) drillng out the eight nutplates and then decided that because the floor panels still attach to the bulkhead with about ten AN3 rivets and the #8 screws through the nutplates, that there was no point in doing that. So I'll rivet that whole assembly when the floor goes in permanently.

On to fitting the baggage floor tunnel cover, which required removing the aft bulkhead to get everything to fit, and then on to the forward side covers which required a little trimming on the bandsaw and attaching a couple of nutplates. Finally, everything in the baggage area was in place and I moved on to putting the seat floors in and drilling them to the ribs. All for today.
