Tonight was a series of small tasks--one of which might be a bigger challenge--that got me to a point where I started fitting the top skins. The challenge came when I finished drilling the right hand F-695 gusset to the longeron and engine support bracket. After I looked at the holes, I realized that I had missed my required edge distance by quite a bit. I have sent an e-mail to Van's, but I have a somewhat sinking feeling that I may be drilling a bunch of rivets out and replacing a bracket. I hope there is an easier fix.
After taking a minute to recover from that little issue, I set about drilling some other gussets and the shoulder harness attach brackets to the longerons. These all went fine so I decided to test fit the F-775 skin to the fuselage. It went on ok, but I'll have to remove it to do a little fitting work with the top stringers. All for today while I wait for a reply from Van's.
