Brief Description:  Victor Torch and Regulators

I knew that I would eventually need a welding rig, and although I wanted a reliable setup I really wasn't interested in spending a ton of money. I looked at several kits online and found that many were knockoffs of the better quality brands, which I wasn't too sure about. I looked on some of the used sites like eBay and craigslist, where I found several good quality and affordable rigs, but one in particular was very close and priced right. A local had listed a Victor 100C torch handle with tip, 25' hose, an SR250C oxygen regulator and a SR260A acetylene regulator for $100. I did some research and found that the new price for these items were $100 for the torch handle and the regulators run around $150 each. I ran the idea by Scott Lacy and he said I probably ought to get the set. The listing had been posted for several days, so I offered $85... the seller accepted and I picked them up. Once the gear was in hand, I ran by Scott's shop where we installed the equipment on his bottles and found that it all worked great. Further research indicated that these are industrial/laboratory grade regulators that utilize stainless steel diaphragms, so I ought to get many years of service from these items. I have checked into the gas, which will cost me an additional $300 for medium sized cylinders, and other accessories like goggles, cutting head, filler rods, etc. I will need to purchase my gas from a reputable supplier, but since I'm in no hurry I may just keep my ear to the ground on some of the other tooling.
