A critical step here... after many days of careful consideration I was finally ready to drill the lift strut attach fitting holes in the spars. Using a drill guide and a sharp 1/4" bit, I carefully drilled each hole in the spars. I think they came out perfectly, but I wont know for sure until I can take one of the lift strut attach fittings (currently drying) and size them up.
I applied polyurethane to the plywood spacers in preparation for mounting the lift strut fittings.
