Back to Josiah Morgan’s garage to use his CNC router and 2” Scotch Brite pads that I purchased so we could create a fish scale pattern on my stainless firewall. The stainless proved a little tough to machine, but through frequent changing of the pads, it turned out pretty good. I wasn’t too concerned with a flawless result on this piece as it will be mostly covered/blocked by accessories mounted to the firewall. I mostly wanted to use this as a test piece to see if this process might be suitable for the more visible cockpit and engine cowlings. We believe that this should produce a nice pattern on the softer aluminum sheets.
