Brief Description: Instrument Panel Nut Plates – Sort Of
In order to mount and easily remove my instruments when necessary, I need something to thread the hardware into that will be durable, lightweight and preferably… cheap. I had several types of plastic that was scrapped material from old GRC inventory... this particular material is Nylatron (I believe)… a very hard, durable and machinable. Its tensile strength is 125psi… plenty durable for holding 8-32 hardware and lightweight instrumentation, so I drilled and tapped several evenly spaced holes into this .500”x.500” stick and cut them apart. These will be epoxied to the back side of the panel for each instrument mounting hole, providing a deep thread engagement and simple installation.
