Brief Description:  Got Her Home!

I haven't seen my engine in over two years as it has been at Roy's Garage in Osseo, MI. Not really Roy's fault... I told him that I didn't need it right away so we put it off for a little while.

The primary reason that I sent my engine to Roy was for the fabrication and installation of the 5th bearing. Roy also took care of lapping the crankcase halves, ordering my OT-10 camshaft and failsafe gear, checking the runout of the cam, reconditioning and balancing my connecting rods, ordering and balancing forged Sealed Power pistons and moly rings, reconditioning my accessory housing, ordering and installing Cleavite main and rod bearings and assembling the lower end, which I am certain was done as well as anyone can possibly do. By all accounts, Roy is a very meticulous machinist and is also a pilot, so he thoroughly understands the critical nature of these engines. I'm glad to have his help with this portion of my project.

Roy tells me that based on the measurements he found during my build, that this is a very nice engine. All dimensions were on the low side of the specifications, which not only means a nice fit, but also means I can operate with the standard oil pump rather than a high output pump.

I plan to attend Corvair College #28 in San Marcos, Texas next February, where I hope to compete the final assembly and test run my engine. Stay tuned!
