Brief Description: LE Sheet Backing
I deviated from the plans on the leading edge sheet a bit, so now I have to get creative. In Bernard's plans, he suggests using thick cardboard to sheet the leading edge, and also recommends extending the sheet part way around the actual leading edge.
I am going to use 1/16" ply, and as was shown in the "Leading Edge" log entries, I left a bit of a gap on the top side in order to butt the ply to the back side of the leading edge, thus providing a smoothe transition between LE and ply. The only flaw is that the ply wants to bow upwards between the ribs, so I had to install some 1/4" x 1/4" backing strips in order to provide an attaching surface for the ply sheet.
Hard to explain, but I wish I would have used the Jim Markle method here. He actually cut a small shelf, or notch into his LE, which probably made installing the sheet a snap.
