Well, I got a great deal on a compressor on Craig's list, I thought. Craftsman 5.5 HP 30 gallon. Noisy as hell so I started building an enclosure. Designed, purshased materials, box constructed. Half way done. Looking good. Purchase $120 of foam to insulate. We'll see.We saw. Visited a friend who just completed a RV9. Took a tour of his shop and listened to his compressor, a 20 year old, cast iron, oiled, belt driven unit that hummed. Considerably quiter than the newer direct drive unit I purchased. Decided to sell the direct drive unit and spend the money - $500 - to purchase a 2 HP 20 gallon belt drive, oiled, cast iron, belt drive unit. It's due in two weeks. We'll see. It should be quieter and it will fit into the cabinet I have built.
