Brief Description:  Brake Spacers & Battery

After installing the new V brake system, I noticed that the wheel had 2.5mm of side-to-side play. I ordered some 7/8" brass bushings off McMaster Carr and turned them down to the exact size. Unfortunately it look several trips back and forth between the garage and basement to get the correct size, but in the end the wheel has no play. As a result there is no unwanted rubbing of the wheel on the V brakes.

Since I decided to go with a 24V battery system, primarily due to an alternator module I am designing for the engine, I needed an inexpensive way to add enough battery capacity to run the avionics and fuel pump during engine operation. Since 6S 8Ah LIPO only cost $100 after shipping. The balancing module was an extra $15. I need to modify it, or add an external circuit to activate it periodically to keep the battery conditioned. Under normal circumstances I would avoid using Lithium Polymer batteries in an airplane, *ahem* Boeing 787 incident *ahem*, but since the tail needed ballast, I decided the battery would be out of harms way in the tail cone should something bad happen. I still need to build the padded mounting for the battery. I am also waiting on some bullet connectors to arrive so that I can wire up the 40A fuse.
