Recall that I had to remove the broken total energy probe. I decided to remove the variometer altogether and opt for a digital one instead. I made a fiberglass plate using several layers of fiberglass tape. It took 48 hours to cure between wax paper. I cut out a circle larger than the hole. After sanding, filler, priming, sanding again, and 2 coats, the results are good.
