took 2 interations to get final install of the gear legs. on the initial fit, the U-803 brackets bottomed out on the wear plates prior to achieving the plans specified torque of 240 in.lbs. i removed the legs and machined down the face of one end each of the left and right U-803s and reinstalled. upon retorquing the bolts, i achieved the specified torque and the specified .030" gap. all is well now, but this was a difficult task working inside the gear towers.
next step is to install the axles, wheels, and brakes.
also of note is the location of the brake line is different from plans ... i got the idea from Dan Horton via VAF, and the brake line as it passes through the floor has been rerouted to forward and outboard of the fuel vent line. this allows more room to put less strained bends in the brake line. more explanatory photos will follow once the lines are in place.
