had a pretty big upset tonight. i discovered that my homemade platenut jig was slightly narrower than an actual platenut so the rivets would not pass through the lug holes. to solve this, i drilled one lug on each platenut to a #30 to give the -3 rivets a little more room. what seems to have happened was that over multiple drilling, the rivet hole template was enlargened due i guess to misaligned bits or just being soft aluminum experiencing repeated drill passes. not the end of the world, but another lesson learned by a first time builder.
