drilled first 4 emp mount holes. Measured, measured, measured. with the 1/8" spacer under the aft spar and the 1/16" spacer on top of the spar, under level, i placed a length of angle longitudinally across the HS spar. digital level showed true level at one end, and 0.1deg at the other. the true value of this measurement is how it compares to the fuse level, as measured along the canopy rails. that measurement averaged to within 0.1 deg, so i think i'm spot on level/aligned with the fuselage and HS.
I then clamped the VS in place and used a tape measure to measure from a point on top of VS to each HS tip. this measurement was about 1/32 delta between empennage tips. after multiple attempts, i could not get the alignment any better. i think that will suffice.
need to check port most mount hole edge spacing at the forward spar to angle to longeron bolt hole. May need backing plate for insufficient edge distance.
**update: the edge spacing is impossible to accurately measure at this location at this point. i'll need to climb inside the fuse and see if i can access from the inside. i plan on making a short length of 1/8" backing plate anyway.
