Brief Description:  control column

started off the session with some planning for the floorboards. using platenuts instead of the pop rivets to secure the floor panels actually requires some modifications other than just drilling and riveting the platenuts. i will trim around the flap actuator bearing blocks and may even split the aft floor panels to ease removal.

moved on the control column. this is the main control column to which the control sticks are mounted to actuate the ailerons and elevators.

fabricated f837 and 2xf838 to hang the control column. these consist of a length of angle that sits on top of two spacer blocks on top of the floor panel. the control column then hangs from this at its aft end, and from another hanger (f849 - installed already in the quickbuild kit) in the f804 bulkhead.

the control column appears to hang just right and swings freely in the bearings. there is no play fore and aft. i will wait to torque these up until after painting and final install.
