Brief Description: autopilot servos, planning, need photos
Studied and roughly positioned autopilot servos. Elevator servo mounting will be fairly straight forward with mounting the servo to the elevator bellcrank bracket and using a short pushrod to connect to the bellcrank to the servo arm. Should be fairly straightforward to achieve the 90deg pushrod-to-servo arm configuration.
The aileron servo is more difficult. Mounting locations are typically either in the wing fixed to a wing rib or in the fuselage adjacent to the aileron trim. The wing mount is effective because it provides a single axis (roll only) of movement for the pushrod/servo arm. The fuselage mounting location next to the aileron trim requires direct attachment to the control tube which moves fore and aft as well as roll. Many RV-8 builders use this position, but I need to look into this option a little more to determine rod end bearings that can accept movement in both axis.
