Brief Description:  3rd Technical Counselor visit

Had Jere look over the tail feathers today. Says they look good with no problems. There were a couple of areas that I was concerned with that we discussed. The first being the trim tab on port elevator. The folded ends on the elevator didn't bend exactly straight while the folded ends on the trim tab did. So the 3/32" spacing between the trim tab and elevator cutout actually widens at the hinge line. Ths is mostly a cosmetic issue and Jere offered some fiberglassing options to close up the excess gap. See photo 1. He pointed out that I need to trim off the corners of the counterweights so the fiberglass tips will fit better, and we discussed options for filling the tips with foam, balsa wood, etc. I was also concerned that the rolled leading edges of the elevators and rudder would not come together very well with the widely spaced pop rivets. He advised rolling the skins a bit more, and then putting a lip on the top skin with an edge rolling tool to keep it nice and tight. Everything else was looking good and the elevators and rudder are ready to be fitted to the stabilizers.
